A journey through Aarhus — where art meets architecture.
Role: Art Direction, Design & development
Scope: Visual Identity, Logo Design, Website Design, Brand Guidelines
AARTUR is an event created to strengthen the connection between artists and the community, and to enrich Aarhus’ cultural scene through engaging gallery walks and exhibitions. The identity is rooted in the movement between galleries — an exploration of the city through art. The orange and gray gradient forms the core of AARTUR’s expression. The orange draws inspiration from the sun and the journey around the city, symbolizing energy, creativity, and warmth. It also nods to one of Aarhus’ most iconic landmarks — the rainbow at ARoS. The gray tone reflects the city’s architecture: DOKK1, City Hall, the School of Architecture, and the industrial harbor. Together, the colors represent the balance between human creativity and urban structure — between art and the city that holds it.

The gradient is designed to feel like a transition — a visual echo of walking through Aarhus, moving from one gallery to the next. Black and white are used as practical contrasts to enhance legibility and flexibility across digital and print materials. The result is a dynamic identity system that feels vibrant and local, yet understated enough to let the art itself shine.
